Hot Spots for the Fredericksburg Region
October 4 – October 10, 2009
Sunday - Thursday, 7:30 p.m. - 4:30 a.m.; crews will be milling and paving on I-95 south between the Prince William C.L and Exit 143 (Rt. 610/Garrisonvile). One lane will be closed in the work zone. Motorists should expect delays.
Sunday – Thursday, 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.; crews will be installing continuous traffic counters on I-95 south just south of just south of Exit 143 (Rt. 610/Garrisonville). Two lanes will be closed in the work zone.
Monday – Thursday, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; motorists should be alert to crews working on the shoulder of I-95 south just south of Exit 143 (Rt. 610/Garrisonville). Crews will be installing continuous traffic counters. No travel lanes will be closed.
Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 5 a..m.; crews will be testing the pavement on Rt. 17 north between McLane Drive and Stafford Lake Pkwy. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.
Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 2:30; crews will be mowing on eastbound Rt. 3 between River Rd and the Blue Gray Pkwy. This is a mobile operation and motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.
Route 676 (Crane’s Corner Road)
Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.; crews will be removing trees along the shoulder on Rt. 676 just east of Rt. 1. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.
Thursday, 9 p.m. – midnight; crews will be transporting a large crane across all three lanes of I-95 south. Motorists will experience a one time, 15 minute delay during this operation. Virginia State Police will be assisting with traffic control in this area. This is in connection with the construction of the new Rt. 17 bridge over I-95.
Route 639 (Bragg Road/Fall Hill Avenue) -Ongoing Construction Project
Monday – Friday; motorists are reminded to be alert to construction crews and equipment working along side the travel lanes on Bragg Road/Fall Hill Avenue as work continues on the Bragg Road/Fall Hill Avenue widening project. The estimated completion date for this project is summer 2011.
Spotsylvania Towne Centre Entrance
Motorists are reminded to be alert to changes in the traffic pattern on Route 3 eastbound between Bragg Road and the entrance to the Spotsylvania Towne Centre. The continuous right turn lane on Rt. 3 east between Bragg Road and the towne centre entrance may be periodically closed to through traffic as well as the right merge lane exiting the towne centre to Rt. 3 east. To avoid delays Towne Centre patrons should use the entrance located on Bragg Road Extended. Access to businesses located on Rt. 3 east between Bragg Road and the towne centre will be maintained at all times.

Route 1 bridge over Route 3 (William Street)
Motorists are reminded that one lane on both north and southbound Rt. 1 at the bridge over Rt. 3 is closed to traffic for bridge rehabilitation. The speed limit in the work zone is 25 miles per hour.
Route 3 (William Street)
Beginning Monday motorists will be restricted to one lane on Rt. 3 west at the Rt. 1 bridge over Rt. 3. The lane will remain closed for approximately 3 weeks. This is work in connection with the Rt. 1/Rt.3 Bridge Renovation Project.
Monday – Wednesday, 6 p.m. – 5 a.m.; the entrance to Park and Shop Shopping Center at Rt.1 and College Ave will be closed while crews install a water line. Motorists should use the Augustine Avenue entrance. The Route 1 entrance will be open between 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. each day.
