VDOT PERMANENTLY CLOSES CAT POINT CREEK BRIDGE TO TRAFFIC
Construction of new bridge near completion
The Virginia Department of
Transportation (VDOT) permanently closed the
“Motorist safety is always our top
priority,” said Gary Shelor, district bridge engineer. “Closing the bridge to
all traffic is the best way to ensure the safety of the traveling public.” The bridge carries approximately 2200
vehicles a day across Cat Point Creek, a major tributary of the
Construction of a new structure at Cat Point Creek began last year, and it expected to be completed by late fall of this year. VDOT is working with Abernathy Construction to ensure that construction of the $5.13 million bridge remains on time and on budget.
