WELSH RUN RD. IN GREENE CO. CLOSED AUG. 24-SEPT. 11
Through traffic should use posted detour during bridge project

CULPEPER — The Virginia Department of Transportation will close Route 629 (Welsh Run Road) in Greene County from Aug. 24 to Sept. 11 to replace the bridge over Welsh Run.

Local traffic will be able to use Route 629 on both sides of the bridge and all private entrances will remain open during the work. Through traffic will use the following detour: Route 629 to Route 743 (Advance Mills Road) to Route 617 (Dunnes Shop Road) to Route 633 (Amicus Road) and back to Route 629.

The project involves replacing the existing steel-beam, timber-deck bridge, built in 1975, with a concrete slab structure. This segment of Route 629 carries approximately 200 vehicles daily.
