TRAFFIC SWITCH ON RT. 3 AT LIGNUM PLANNED FOR SATURDAY
Culpeper area motorists should use caution, be alert for changes to traffic pattern

CULPEPER — On Saturday, Nov. 21, the Virginia Department of Transportation plans to perform a traffic switch on Route 3 (Germanna Highway) between Lignum and Route 669 (Carrico Mills Road). Based on weather and progress of work, both directions of traffic will begin using the newly paved lanes Saturday morning.

The traffic switch is necessary for crews to begin work to reconstruct the future eastbound lanes. Motorists should proceed with caution through the work zone and stay alert for new signs and traffic controls.

Message boards are in place to notify drivers of the change.

The $23.6 million Route 3 project will widen the last remaining portion of two-lane highway between Culpeper and Fredericksburg. The project’s completion date is May 4, 2017.

More information about the project can be found on VDOT’s website at www.virginiadot.org/projects/culpeper/route_3.asp.
