Crews will replace bridge in Culpeper Co.; motorists detoured through Aug. 14

CULPEPER — Beginning Aug. 3 at 8 a.m., Route 623 (Myers Mill Road) in Culpeper County will be closed while crews replace the aged bridge over Beaver Dam Run.

The bridge is located approximately 1.7 miles north of Route 621 (Jeffersonton Road) and 1.3 miles south of Route 802 (Springs Road) in Jeffersonton. Weather permitting, the bridge is anticipated to reopen to traffic the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 14.

During the closure, through traffic should use Routes 621 and 802 as the detour route. Driveway access will be maintained for local traffic.

VDOT will replace the 55-year-old timber-deck bridge with a pre-stressed concrete slab structure and asphalt overlay. According to a 2014 traffic count, approximately 420 vehicles travel this route daily.
