BLASTING WILL OCCUR AT MULATTO RUN BRIDGE PROJECT
Motorists may experience brief delays on Rt. 231 in Madison Co.

CULPEPER — Over the next two months, motorists may experience brief delays on Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) in Madison County for blasting operations.

When blasting is necessary, it will occur during daytime hours on weekdays and will require a traffic stop of up to 15 minutes for safety. Signs will be placed to notify motorists of potential delays.

The work is part of the Route 231 bridge replacement project at Mulatto Run and will occur as weather permits. VDOT contractor Allegheny Construction Co. of Roanoke is replacing the existing bridge, built in 1932, with a new concrete bridge that meets current design standards. The $3.59 million construction contract has a fixed completion date of Dec. 18, 2015.
