VDOT crew will replace pipe under roadway near Leon; motorists will be detoured

CULPEPER — The Virginia Department of Transportation will close the southbound lanes of Route 29 (Seminole Trail) in Madison County overnight Thursday, Aug. 28, for a pipe replacement.

The closure will occur near the intersection of Route 612 (James City Road) in Leon and will extend from 8 p.m. until 9 a.m. the following day.

Drivers on Route 29 southbound will be detoured right onto Route 612 and immediately left onto Route 631 (Kirtley Road), which carries them back to Route 29.

Message boards are in place to alert motorists of the upcoming closure.

Real-time road conditions and weather forecasts are available on VDOT’s traffic and travel website, www.511Virginia.org. The site also has live traffic camera images for many major highways, including Interstate 64, I-66 and Routes 29 and 250 in Central Virginia.
