CULPEPER — On July 28 the Virginia Department of Transportation will close Route 670 (Old Blue Ridge Turnpike) in Madison County for a bridge replacement project. The bridge is located approximately 0.3 mile west of Route 642 (Poor House Road) and spans an unnamed stream.
Route 670 will be closed for two weeks, during which motorists will be detoured north on Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) to Route 643 (Etlan Road) and back to Route 670. Access will be maintained to properties on both sides of the bridge.
Approximately 800 vehicles use Route 670 daily, according to a 2012 count.
