RT. 29 SOUTH CLOSED AT I-64 INTERCHANGE
Overturned tractor-trailer blocking southbound lanes, I-64 west exit ramp

CULPEPER — A tractor-trailer has overturned on Route 29 just south of Charlottesville and is blocking both southbound lanes and the Interstate 64 east on-ramp. The Interstate 64 west off-ramp at exit 118A is also blocked.

The Virginia Department of Transportation and first responders have reduced Rt. 29 northbound traffic to one lane so that Rt. 29 southbound traffic can turn around.

I-64 westbound motorists wishing to exit will be detoured further west to milepost 114 (Ivy), or should exit the interstate prior to milepost 118.

Motorists should expect delays in the area for the next several hours.

Real-time road conditions and weather forecasts are available on VDOT’s traffic and travel website, www.511Virginia.org. The site also has live traffic camera images for many major highways, including Interstate 64, I-66 and Routes 29 and 250 in Central Virginia. Motorists can call 511 from any telephone in Virginia for road and traffic conditions on all major highways in the state. Call 1-800-367-7623 24 hours a day to report highway-related problems or request information about Virginia’s highways.
