NIGHT WORK TO OCCUR ON RT. 522 IN RAPPAHANNOCK
VDOT crew will replace failed pipe; one lane closed overnight Sept. 30, Oct. 1

CULPEPER — The Virginia Department of Transportation will work two nights next week to replace a failed drainage pipe that runs under Route 522 (Sperryville Pike) in Rappahannock County near the intersection of Route 620 (Fletchers Mill Road).

Weather permitting, work will occur on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly. One lane of traffic on Route 522 will be maintained throughout the work. Motorists should expect brief delays due to flagging as well as some construction activities that will occupy both travel lanes.

Message boards will be installed to notify the public of the upcoming work. The project has been coordinated with emergency responders to ensure no disruption to service.

Real-time road conditions and weather forecasts are available on VDOT’s traffic and travel website, www.511Virginia.org. The site also has live traffic camera images for many major highways, including Interstate 64, I-66 and Routes 29 and 250 in Central Virginia. Motorists can call 511 from any telephone in Virginia for road and traffic conditions on all major highways in the state. Call 1-800-FOR-ROAD (367-7623) 24 hours a day to report highway-related problems or request information about Virginia’s highways.
