ASHVILLE RD. IN FAUQUIER TO CLOSE DEC. 1-18
Detour in place for motorists during bridge replacement project
CULPEPER — Beginning Monday, Dec. 1, the Virginia Department of Transportation will close Route 723 (Ashville Road) in Fauquier County for a bridge project.
A VDOT bridge crew will replace the Route 723 bridge over a branch of Goose Creek, which is located just south of Interstate 66. The existing timber-deck bridge is posted with a five-ton weight limit. In its place VDOT will install a concrete bridge that will carry all legal loads. The project is expected to finish by Dec. 18.
Route 723 will be closed to all traffic while the bridge is replaced. A detour will direct motorists to Route 732 (Ramey Road) to Route 731 (also Ashville Road) and back to Route 723.
Approximately 520 vehicles use Route 723 daily.
