RT. 632 NEAR PALMYRA TO CLOSE FEB. 4
Installation of box culvert at Ballinger Creek to be completed in May
CULPEPER — This week the Virginia Department of Transportation and Earley Marine Inc. of Virginia Beach will begin work to replace the Route 632 (Ridge Road) bridge at Ballinger Creek in Fluvanna County. The bridge is located just north of Palmyra.
The project involves removing the existing structure and replacing it with a precast box culvert, as well as making improvements to the approaches on both ends of the crossing.
Beginning Feb. 4, Route 632 will be closed at Ballinger Creek and detour signs will be posted. Southbound motorists will be detoured from Route 632 to Route 608 (Barnaby Road) to Route 613 (Bybees Church Road) to Route 15 (James Madison Highway) and back to Route 632. Northbound motorists will reverse the detour.
Approximately 270 vehicles use Route 632 daily.
Earley Marine Inc., with a low bid of $458,300.35, was awarded the construction contract for this project in December. The contract has a completion date of May 13.
