Detour has been established for motorists

CULPEPER — Route 6 (Irish Road) is closed at Route 753 (Paces Store Road) in the Esmont area of Albemarle County due to a two-vehicle accident.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is assisting with traffic control and has established a detour taking westbound motorists from Route 6 onto Route 715 (Esmont Road) to Route 627 (Porters Road) and back to Route 6. Eastbound motorists will reverse the detour.

Local police and fire personnel are on the scene and estimate the closure will stay in place until 8 p.m.

Real-time road conditions and weather forecasts are available on VDOT’s traffic and travel Web site, www.511Virginia.org. The site also has live traffic camera images for many major highways, including Interstate 64, I-66 and Routes 29 and 250 in Central Virginia. Motorists can call 511 from any telephone in Virginia for road and traffic conditions on all major highways in the state.
