RT. 743 BRIDGE IN EARLYSVILLE TO CLOSE FOR TWO WEEKS
Replacement of bridge over Jacob’s Run set for March 26
CULPEPER — Beginning March 26, the Virginia Department of Transportation will replace the Route 743 (Advance Mills Road) bridge over Jacob’s Run in Earlysville. The bridge will be closed for two weeks while the work is completed.
The bridge, which is located approximately three-quarters of a mile south of Route 664 (Frays Mountain Road), was built in 1984 and is structurally deficient. It is currently posted for a maximum weight of 12 tons due to its condition.
The existing steel beam, timber deck bridge will be replaced with a new pre-stressed concrete bridge capable of carrying all legal loads.
During the two-week closure, southbound motorists should follow the posted detour route: Route 743 north to Route 664, then to Route 663 (Buck Mountain Road) and back onto Route 743. Northbound motorists will reverse the detour.
