7 FIRMS SUBMIT TECHNICAL PROPOSALS FOR ROUTE 29 BYPASS
Price proposals for project are due May 3
CULPEPER — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced that seven Design-Build teams have provided Technical Proposals in the next step of the agency’s procurement process for the Route 29/Charlottesville Bypass project. VDOT is seeking proposals to build the new road using its Design-Build project development process.
The Design-Build teams’ Technical Proposals will be reviewed to ensure compliance with the Request for Proposal’s requirements. If VDOT determines that a Technical Proposal does not comply with the requirements of the RFP that proposal may be found to be non-responsive. In that case the Design-Build team will be notified in writing and the team’s Price Proposal will be returned unopened, along with the non-responsive Technical Proposal.
The Price Proposal submittal date is May 3, 2012. Price Proposals received from responsive Design-Build teams will be opened on May 8, 2012. The bid opening can be viewed on the following web site: www.virginiadot.org/business/bid_streams.asp. Bid results will also be posted on the web at: www.virginiadot.org/business/const/bidresults-list.asp.
Design-Build teams that provided Technical Proposals for the project are:
American Infrastructure / Kimley-Horn; Glen Allen, Va.
CH2MHILL; Richmond, Va.
Charlottesville Bypass Constructors (Shirley-English) / Dewberry; Lorton, Va.
Granite-Wagman / Gannett Fleming; Tarrytown, N.Y.
Lane / RK&K; Chantilly, Va.
Skanska-Branch / JMT; Virginia Beach, Va.
Zachry / TranSystems; San Antonio, Texas
After the Price Proposals are opened VDOT will review each package for responsiveness to the Request for Proposals and legal requirements. If that review is satisfactory and a competitive price proposal is received, VDOT will issue a Notice of Intent to Award to the successful offeror. The contract will be awarded by the Commonwealth Transportation Board.
The Route 29 Charlottesville Bypass project will build a new 6.2-mile, four-lane, limited-access roadway stretching from Route 29 just north of the South Fork Rivanna River to the Route 29/250 Bypass in Albemarle County. The project includes interchanges at both termini to move traffic between Route 29 north and Route 29/250 west of Charlottesville.
