TRAFFIC SHIFT TO OCCUR WEDNESDAY NIGHT ON EAST RIO ROAD
Motorists will use outside lanes while concrete median is constructed
CULPEPER — A shift in the traffic pattern on Route 631 (East Rio Road) will occur Wednesday night between the bridge over Norfolk Southern Railroad and the entrance to the Charlottesville-Albemarle Technical Education Center (CATEC).
Beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Faulconer Construction Company, Inc., a contractor for the Virginia Department of Transportation, will shift traffic to the outside lanes on East Rio Road. The inside lanes in both directions will be closed to permit construction of the concrete median.
This traffic pattern will be in effect for approximately one month. Motorists should drive with caution and be alert to construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zone in the middle of the roadway.
The median work and other improvements being made to East Rio Road are part of the Meadow Creek Parkway construction project. The improvements will enhance safety for motorists using East Rio Road and those entering and exiting CATEC and the Dunlora and Belvedere communities.
