Two-day closure will allow railroad to perform emergency crossing repairs

CULPEPER — Route 682 (Gillums Ridge Road) will close to through traffic at 7 a.m. Monday, April 11 so that the Buckingham Branch Railroad can perform emergency repair work to its at-grade rail crossing on Route 682. The road is expected to reopen to through traffic on Tuesday, April 12.

The crossing is located 0.2 miles south of Route 250 (Ivy Road) and 0.4 miles from Route 1248 (Mechums West Drive). During the closure signed detours will be in place for traffic using Route 682. Traffic on Route 250 will be directed west to Route 635 (Miller School  Road) where it will be directed south on Route 635 to Route 637 (Dick Woods Road). At that intersection traffic will turn left onto Route 637 eastbound to Route 682 (Broad Axe Road). At the intersection of Route 637 and Route 682 traffic will be directed left onto Route 682 north, which will lead back to Route 682 (Gillums Ridge Road).
