RT. 250 AND RT. 22 CLOSED AT SHADWELL
Both roads expected to remain closed through rush hour due to tractor-trailer crash

CULPEPER – Route 250 (Richmond Road) and Route 22 (Louisa Road) are both closed at their intersection at Shadwell due to a crash involving an overturned tractor-trailer truck. The cleanup is expected to take at least five hours and both Route 250 and Route 22 will be closed until the truck is removed.

Motorists should avoid traveling Route 250 east from the Interstate 64 interchange at Pantops Mountain or Route 22 south of Keswick through the afternoon. Significant traffic backups are already reported on Route 250 and motorists should use alternate routes. The Virginia Department of Transportation is on the scene assisting with traffic control and cleanup from the crash.

Real-time road conditions and weather forecasts are available on VDOT’s traffic and travel website, www.511Virginia.org. The site also has live traffic camera images for many major highways, including Interstate 64, I-66 and Routes 29 and 250 in Central Virginia. Motorists can call 511 from any telephone in Virginia for road and traffic conditions on all major highways in the state. Call 800-367-ROAD (367-7623) 24 hours a day to report highway-related problems or request information about Virginia’s highways.
