ROUTE 29 NORTH CLOSED AT NEW BALTIMORE
Tractor-trailer, three other vehicles involved; motorists should use posted detour

CULPEPER — Route 29 northbound in Fauquier County is closed at Route 600 (Broad Run Church Road) due to an accident involving a tractor-trailer and three other vehicles.

The tractor-trailer, which was hauling wood chips, has overturned and is leaking diesel fuel onto the roadway. The Virginia Department of Transportation, local police and fire and rescue are on the scene and have closed the road until hazardous materials specialists can perform clean-up. The closure will likely exceed two hours.

A detour has been established for northbound motorists, using Route 600 to Route 676 (Riley Road) and back to Route 29.

Real-time road conditions and weather forecasts are available on VDOT’s traffic and travel Web site, www.511Virginia.org. The site also has live traffic camera images for many major highways, including Interstate 64, I-66 and Routes 29 and 250 in Central Virginia. Motorists can call 511 from any telephone in Virginia for road and traffic conditions on all major highways in the state. Call 1-800-FOR-ROAD (367-7623) 24 hours a day to report highway-related problems or request information about Virginia’s highways.
