PUBLIC COMMENT EXTENDED TO APRIL 14 ON RT. 3 PROJECT
Registered hearing attendees will receive corrected comment sheets by certified mail
CULPEPER — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has extended the public comment period on the proposed widening of Route 3 between Stevensburg and Lignum until Thursday, April 14. All comments received or postmarked through April 14 will be considered as part of the public hearing record.
VDOT decided to extend the comment period after it was discovered that the comment sheets distributed at the public hearing on March 23 had an incomplete return address that omitted the town, state and zip code. All those who registered at the public hearing and at the public meeting held March 31 in Stevensburg will receive, by mail, a corrected comment sheet and a letter from VDOT notifying them of the extended comment period.
The address error on the comment sheet affects only those responses that have been mailed back to VDOT. All sheets left at the public hearing or submitted at the community meeting in Stevensburg have been received and will be considered as part of the official public hearing record.
Plans and environmental documents for the project may be reviewed at VDOT’s Culpeper District office, 1601 Orange Road, in Culpeper. Please call ahead, 540-829-7500, to ensure that appropriate staff will be available to assist you.
