JARMANS GAP ROAD OPEN FOR NEXT TWO WEEKENDS
Road will re-open to local traffic for Crozet Arts and Crafts Festival, Trails Day
CULPEPER — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will temporarily re-open Route 691 (Jarmans Gap Road) in Crozet to local traffic during two upcoming weekend events.
VDOT will open the roadway from close of business today through Monday at 7 a.m. to allow residents access to the Crozet Arts and Crafts Festival on October 8-9.
Jarmans Gap Road will re-open next Friday evening to accommodate Crozet Trails Day on October 15, and close again on Monday, October 17, at 7 a.m., until the box culvert installation is completed.
Use of Jarmans Gap Road is restricted to local vehicle and pedestrian traffic only, since the road will be surfaced with stone.
Jarmans Gap Road is currently closed between Route 1209 (Haden Lane) and Route 1201 (Blue Ridge Avenue) for installation of a new box culvert in Powells Creek. The closure began on September 12 and is expected to last 45-60 days.
This work is part of a roadway improvement project that will widen the travel lanes and add bicycle and pedestrian facilities to Jarmans Gap Road. More information about the project can be found on VDOT’s website, http://www.virginiadot.org/projects/culpeper/jarmans_gap_road.asp.
