CLOSURE OF JARMANS GAP ROAD MOVED TO AUGUST 29
Complications with water main work delaying installation of box culvert
CULPEPER — Closure of Route 691 (Jarmans Gap Road) in Crozet has been postponed to August 29 while underground utility work is completed.
General Excavation, Inc., contractor for the Virginia Department of Transportation, has encountered complications while installing and pressurizing two water mains being relocated to accommodate a new box culvert in Powells Creek. Crews need an additional week to finish and test their work.
VDOT will close Jarmans Gap Road between Route 1209 (Haden Lane) and Route 1201 (Blue Ridge Avenue) on August 29 and begin installation of the box culvert. The work is expected to take 45-60 days.
During the closure, motorists will be detoured from Jarmans Gap Road south on Route 240 (Crozet Avenue) to Route 250 (Rockfish Gap Turnpike) to Old Trail Drive and back to Jarmans Gap Road. School buses will use the same route.
