ROUTE 627 IN ALBEMARLE CLOSED TO REPLACE DAMAGED PIPE
Local access maintained during month-long project; detours posted for through traffic
CULPEPER — Route 627 (Carters Mountain Road) in Albemarle County will be closed to through traffic on Wednesday, March 31. The closure is necessary so that the Virginia Department of Transportation can replace a damaged drainage pipe that carries water under the road. The pipe is located 1.74 miles from Route 795 (James Monroe Parkway) and 0.16 miles from Route 727 (Blenheim Road).
The damaged pipe will be replaced with a new concrete box culvert. The work is expected to be finished and the road reopened to through traffic on April 28. Detour signs will be posted to guide traffic around the closure; the detour is Route 795 (Rolling Road) to Route 795 (Presidents Road) to Route 727 (Blenheim Road). Local traffic will be able to use Route 627 on both sides of the work zone.
