Lane Closure to Affect Westbound Traffic on I-64
Motorists restricted to 13-foot lane at milepost 108
On Monday, May 5, Lanford Brothers, a contractor for the Virginia Department of Transportation, will close the left lane at the bridge over Stockton Creek near milepost 108.
Concrete barriers, set up in preparation for milling and paving the bridge deck, will restrict traffic to one 13-foot wide lane throughout the work zone.
During the lane closure, strategically placed message boards will notify motorists of the work zone and lane-width restriction and suggest alternate routes. VDOT’s Traffic Management Center personnel located in Staunton will use portable cameras to keep a close check on road and traffic conditions and report them to the public.
Plans also call for increased coverage of the area by Safety Service Patrols, particularly during periods of heavy traffic.
U.S. Route 250 can be used as an alternate route by leaving at Exit 114, Ivy, and taking Route 250 west to Crozet, reentering I-64 at Exit 107.
Motorists can assist in minimizing travel delays by obeying all signs and using extra caution as they approach the work zone.
