Route 107/11 intersection improvement public hearing scheduled for December 4 (Chilhowie area of Smyth County)
BRISTOL – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a design public hearing December 4 to review plans for improvements to the Route 11/107 intersection in the Chilhowie area of Smyth County.
The public hearing will be held December 4 from 4-6 p.m. at Chilhowie High School, located at 1160 E. Lee Highway in Chilhowie.
The purpose of the meeting is to give citizens an opportunity to review the proposed project plans that include adding a left turn lane from Route 107 north and southbound onto Route 11. Additionally, the turning radius at the intersection will be improved, providing additional space for trucks to make turns.
VDOT encourages all interested citizens to attend the information meeting. To give citizens more flexibility in their participation, there will be no formal presentation. Instead, citizens will be able to review plans with VDOT representatives at their convenience anytime between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Also, citizens will have an opportunity to record verbal comments for the official record anytime during the meeting. Written comments will be accepted during the meeting or may be submitted to VDOT by December 14, 2018. Mail comments to Mr. Ron Flanary, Project Manager, 870 Bonham Road, Bristol, Virginia 24201.
