Be alert to slick conditions in areas of southwestern Virginia this morning (March 12, 2018)
10 a.m. - March 12, 2018

BRISTOL— The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is advising drivers to anticipate slick road conditions in areas of southwest Virginia this morning and possibly into the afternoon due to snow.


Following are road conditions as of 10 a.m.:

  • Be alert to scattered snow and ice patches on interstate highways in Bland County.
  • The majority of primary and secondary roads in Bland, Wise, Grayson and Wythe counties area snow-covered.
  • Snow patches and slush are reported on a few primary and secondary highways in Dickenson, Scott, Russell and Tazewell counties.

Travelers can get real-time information on road conditions, traffic incidents and congestion on Virginia roads by using VDOT’s 511 free mobile app or the www.511Virginia.org website and phone system, which can help travelers plan their routes accordingly.

The Bristol District includes the counties of Bland, Wythe, Tazewell, Grayson, Smyth, Russell, Buchanan, Washington, Wise, Dickenson, Lee and Scott counties.
