11 a.m. Jan 16: Afternoon snow may cause slick travel condition
VDOT asks motorists to postpone unnecessary travel

BRISTOL— The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is advising drivers to expect possible slick road conditions due to snow that is anticipated to pass through southwestern Virginia Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.

Motorists are advised to postpone unnecessary travel. If travel is necessary, allow extra travel time, ensure your vehicle is in good working order and carry an emergency winter driving kit.

Travelers can get real-time information on road conditions, traffic incidents and congestion on Virginia roads by using VDOT’s 511 free mobile app or the www.511Virginia.org website and phone system, which can help travelers plan their routes accordingly.

The Bristol District includes the counties of Bland, Wythe, Tazewell, Grayson, Smyth, Russell, Buchanan, Washington, Wise, Dickenson, Lee and Scott counties.
