Prepare for rapidly changing conditions on roadways this afternoon, into the weekend due to snow
BRISTOL— With snow in the forecast for southwest Virginia today and into the weekend, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) asks motorists to be prepared for rapidly changing conditions on area roads.
VDOT crews are ready with the needed materials and equipment to perform snow removal operations.
Drivers should adjust commutes where possible to avoid driving during the storm. If travel is necessary, allow extra travel time and adjust your speed for the conditions. Ensure gas tanks and windshield wiper fluid tanks are full.
VDOT offers many tools to help motorists determine road conditions prior to their travel.
For traffic alerts and traveler information, visit 511Virginia.org. VDOT also offers a 511 app for android or iOS.
