Commonwealth Transportation Board awards Route 757 widening in Wise County

RICHMOND – The Commonwealth Transportation Board awarded contracts Wednesday that included a $5.1 million contract to widen Route 757 (Wise Norton Road) in Wise County

Estes Brothers, Inc., Jonesville, will construct the project that includes the widening of one mile of Route 757 between Business Route 23 in the Town of Wise and Route 23 in Norton, increasing traffic capacity and improving safety along the route.

The new roadway will have wider travel lanes and a 13-foot-wide center turn lane will be added.   The project also includes curb and gutter, as well as a sidewalk on the west side of Route 757.

The work is expected to begin this spring and be complete October 2017.
