Snow switching to rain in some areas, be alert to standing water
(1 p.m.)

BRISTOL – Snow has turned to rain in some areas of southwestern Virginia, creating standing water due to snow blocking drainage pipes and drains.  The Virginia Department of Transportations (VDOT) cautions motorists to be alert to standing water along the highways.

Crews will be working to address drainage issues, but motorists should use added caution and be alert to standing water along the roadways.

Road conditions and other real-time travel information can be found on the 511 Virginia website, the free VDOT 511 mobile app or by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia. VDOT updates are also on the district’s Twitter account, @VaDOTBristol.
