Temporary closure of Route 833 bridge in Lee County begins April 7
Bridge will remain closed for up to three weeks

BRISTOL – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will temporarily close the Route 833 bridge in Lee County beginning April 7 and the bridge will remain closed for up to three weeks.

The bridge carries approximately 150 vehicles per day and is located over the Powell River in the Beech Grove Community of Lee County.

The closure will allow workers to finish replacing a portion of the bridge more quickly and VDOT will see a cost savings by allowing the short-term closure.  The bridge replacement project will finish in December.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes while work is underway.  Pay close attention to message boards providing information regarding the closing and reopening of the bridge.
