Anticipate lengthy delays on Route 670 at Avens Bridge in Washington County due to deliver of equipment, materials
Periodic delays of 15 minutes or more may be exprerienced for next two weeks

BRISTOL – Motorists may experience lengthy delays for the next two weeks beginning tomorrow on Route 670 at Avens Bridge in Washington County due to the delivery of equipment and materials for construction of the new bridge over South Holston Lake.

Weather permitting, anticipate the possibility of delays Monday through Saturday for the next two weeks.  Delays will try to be minimized, but some of the larger deliveries will take time to unload in the limited space available.

Construction of a new bridge over South Holston Lake began this fall.  Motorists will continue to use the current Route 670 Avens Bridge until the new bridge is completed.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) advises both vehicular traffic and boat traffic to use caution in this area, slow down and pay close attention to signs and flaggers in the work zone.
