Highway projects valued at $1.6 million awarded for southwestern Virginia
RICHMOND – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) recently awarded three contracts valued at approximately $1.6 million for the Bristol District. The Bristol District consists of 12 counties in southwestern Virginia: Washington, Smyth, Lee, Scott, Russell, Buchanan, Tazewell, Bland, Wise, Dickenson, Grayson, and Wythe.
Two contracts were awarded for replacement of the decks of two bridges in Tazewell County:
- Crossroads Bridge, Inc., Marion, received a $1.1 million contract to replace the deck of the Route 19 bridge over the Bluestone River between Springville and Bluefield in Tazewell County.
- A $395,575 contract was awarded to Cleco Corporation, Rosedale, to replace the deck of the Route 61 bridge over Clear Fork Creek in Tazewell County.
Lastly, Elk Knob, Inc., Pennington Gap, received a $139,324 contract to add safety improvements and new signage to a section of Route 421 just south of the Pennington Gap area.
