Transportation board approves contracts valued at approximately $7.2 million
RICHMOND – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) recently awarded ten highway contracts valued at approximately $7.2 million for the Bristol District. The Bristol District consists of 12 counties in southwestern Virginia: Washington, Smyth, Lee, Scott, Russell, Buchanan, Tazewell, Bland, Wise, Dickenson, Grayson, and Wythe.
Rite Way Fence, Inc., Sterling Heights, Md., received two guardrail contracts:
- A $2.3 million contract to widen shoulders and install guardrail at various locations on Interstate 81 in Washington County.
- A $223,953 contract to install guardrail at various locations on Route 19 in Tazewell County.
Two on-call guardrail contracts were also awarded: Selco Construction Services, Inc., Swords Creek, received a $359,915 contract for Buchanan, Russell, Washington and Tazewell counties, and Makco, Inc., Charlottesville, received a $155,823 contract for Wythe, Grayson, Smyth and Bland counties.
W-L Construction and Paving, Inc., Chilhowie, received a $1.3 million contract to pave on various routes in Tazewell County. The company also received a $270,589 contract to pave shoulders and install pavement markings on about a one-mile section of Route 460 in Tazewell County located near the Buchanan County line.
Slurry Pavers, Inc., Glen Allen, received three paving contracts:
- An $827,692 contract for various routes in Scott and Tazewell counties.
- A $775,030 contract for various routes in Grayson, Russell, Scott, Smyth and Tazewell counties.
- A $449,344 contract for various routes in Lee County.
Lastly, Webster & Webster, Inc., Verona, received a $522,306 contract to pave shoulders, install guardrail and median barrier wall on Route 19 in Tazewell County, from Route 369 to just north of Route 678.
