Transportation board approves contracts valued at approximately $2.8 million

RICHMOND – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) recently awarded four highway contracts valued at approximately $2.8 million for the Bristol District.  The Bristol District consists of 12 counties in southwestern Virginia:  Washington, Smyth, Lee, Scott, Russell, Buchanan, Tazewell, Bland, Wise, Dickenson, Grayson, and Wythe.

C.L. Dale Construction Services, LLC, Lebanon, received a $1.9 million contract to reconstruct a half-mile section of Route 680 in Buchanan County.  The section to be reconstructed is located near Route 638.

Elk Knob, Inc., Pennington Gap, received three contracts:
- A $410,780 contract to replace the Route 666 bridge over the Pound River in Wise County.

- A $358,315 contract to repair the Route 23 bridge over Kentucky Avenue, the Guest River and Norfolk Southern Railroad in Norton.

- A $125,983 contract to improve safety at the railroad crossing at Route 706 in Lee County.
