Chris Blevins, P.E., promoted to assistant district administrator for preliminary engineering and construction
BRISTOL—Chris Blevins, P.E., assistant bridge engineer for the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) 12-county Bristol district, was recently promoted to assistant district administrator for preliminary engineering and construction for the Bristol district.
Blevins began his VDOT career in 1989 as a bridge inspector trainee and moved into the bridge inspector role in 1990. He has also served as drafting technician, inspection team leader and design engineer for the bridge division.
Blevins was promoted to assistant bridge engineer in 2004. Currently, he is also serving as acting district bridge engineer due to the retirement of Garry Lovins.
In 2007, Blevins was selected for VDOT’s Executive Leadership Program, where he served in various leadership roles within VDOT such as area construction engineer and assistant residency administrator for the Wytheville Residency and as assistant division administrator for maintenance in VDOT’s central office in Richmond.
Blevins earned his professional engineer license in January 2004.
In his new role as assistant district administrator for preliminary engineering and construction, Blevins will be responsible for the $100 million construction and preliminary engineering program for the 12 counties in southwestern Virginia.
Blevins was raised in the Konnarock area of Smyth County. He and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Bristol. (END)
