UPDATED TRAFFIC ADVISORY: I-66 WESTBOUND LANE CLOSURES

Motorists can expect major delays on westbound I-66 in Arlington for the next few weeks as the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) drills holes for retaining walls in the vicinity of Westmoreland Street, Exit 68.

I-66 westbound has two travel lanes and a merge lane in this area. The following is our proposed MODIFIED schedule that covers only the week of January 7 through January 11, reducing the time that two lanes are closed, minimizing traffic disruptions. Additional closures will be needed in the following weeks, and VDOT will put out more information accordingly.

Monday, January 7, 2008
Two right lanes and right shoulder from 10:00am to approximately 11:00am
Single right lane and right shoulder closure will continue from 11:00am until 3:00pm

Tuesday, January 8, 2008
Two right lanes and right shoulder from 10:00am to approximately 11:30am

Wednesday, January 9, 2008
Two right lanes and right shoulder from 10:00am to approximately 11:30am

Thursday, January 9, 2008
Two right lanes and right shoulder from 10:00am to approximately 11:30am

Friday, January 11, 2008
Two right lanes and right shoulder from 10:00am to approximately 11:30am

Please be aware that this schedule is dependent upon dry, clear weather. If inclement weather develops during any part of this schedule, each event and all subsequent events will be rescheduled.

The work is part of the studies being undertaken for the proposed I-66 Spot Improvements project.
