BATTLEFIELD PARKWAY EXTENSION BREAKS GROUND


The Virginia Department of Transportation and Leesburg officials broke ground today on the Battlefield Parkway extension, a .7 mile, four-lane road that will provide motorists an alternate route to Route 15 and the Route 15 Bypass.

The parkway will allow motorists to access the Dulles Greenway and Leesburg Executive Airport. T

he $35 million project will be completed in late 2009.

Other elements of the project will include two bridges crossing the W&OD Railroad Regional Park trail and Tuscarora Creek, a 10-foot shared-use path parallel to the road, a noise barrier wall and retaining walls.
