VDOT TO HOLD COMMUNITY WORKSHOP FOR I-66 WESTBOUND SPOT IMPROVEMENT DESIGN STUDY
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration will hold a community workshop January 23 on the proposed spot improvements to I-66 westbound inside the Capital Beltway. The meeting will be at Washington-Lee High School, 1300 N. Quincy Street in Arlington, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The proposed spot improvements include extending the on-ramp from Fairfax Drive to Sycamore Street, adding a lane on the Washington Boulevard on-ramp to extend the acceleration lane from Washington Boulevard to the Dulles Airport Access Highway, and extending the on-ramp from Spout Run to Glebe Road.
Any improvements to westbound I-66 would be constructed within the existing right-of-way and be coordinated with the Dulles Metro Rail project as well as regional emergency evacuation plans.
The public is encouraged to attend and participate in the workshop and provide their thoughts and ideas. The meeting will begin with a brief presentation, and then break into small conversation groups.
In the event of inclement weather, the workshop will be held on Jan. 29. The public should call the INFO line at 1-888-643-3266 to confirm. More information is also available at www.idea66.com
