VDOT Names William C. Cuttler Assistant District Engineer for Preliminary Engineering


The Virginia Department of Transportation has named William C. "Bill" Cuttler, P.E., as the Northern Virginia District Assistant District Engineer for Preliminary Engineering.

A transportation engineer with more than 16 years experience in both the public and private sectors, he will manage more than 100 engineers and staff responsible for managing transportation projects from initial scoping through the completion of right of way and construction plans for Fairfax, Prince William and Loudoun Counties.

Prior to joining VDOT, he worked for Fairfax County for 11 years in several leadership capacities. He managed the Fairfax County Planning & Land Acquisition Section of the County Park Authority; was transportation manager with the Fairfax County Department of Transportation, where he was involved in planning and design on numerous projects, including the Springfield Interchange and Woodrow Wilson Bridge projects; served as transportation project manager for the Fairfax County Department of Public Works Road Bond Program and served as a transportation engineer in the private sector with Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson in Baltimore, MD.

Mr. Cuttler graduated from Virginia Tech with a B. S. in Civil Engineering and is a member of the Leadership Fairfax, Inc. Class of 2002. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia and lives Herndon with his wife and two children.
