Industry Briefing
An industry briefing was held Feb. 12, 2009, at 10 a.m. EDT at the Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center, Old Dominion University, 1030 University Blvd.,
Suffolk, VA 23435.
The industry briefing was held to provide an overview of a General Engineering Consultant (GEC) Request for Proposal.
The briefing was intended for consulting engineering firms that desire to be considered to provide professional engineering services and serve as the general engineering consultant for the overall program management of the design and construction of major transportation infrastructure projects in Southeastern Virginia.
The anticipated projects will include, but are not limited to:
- Downtown Tunnel/Midtown Tunnel/Martin Luther King Boulevard Extension (Norfolk and Portsmouth)
- Route 460 Corridor Improvements (Petersburg to Suffolk)
At the Chief Engineer's sole discretion and approval, the department may add improvements to the Interstate 64 corridor to the contract to meet resource or emergency needs.
The program will consist of a project overview presentation and a question-and-answer period.
