2002 Drainage Manual
The 2002 Drainage Manual has been revised based on the AASHTO Model Drainage Manual and now is the official source for development and application of all drainage design related to VDOT plans. The 2002 version replaces the current manual which was developed in 1980. Future revisions and additions are expected to occur 2 to 3 times per year and those will be highlighted on this Web site. It should be noted that the Drainage Manual is superseded by (1) the current Errata Sheet, (2) current Hydraulic Design Advisories, and (3) occasionally by Location & Design Instructional and Informational Memoranda. Links for these sources are shown below and it will be necessary to check each of them on a frequent basis to insure that you are using the most up to date policies and procedures. Doing so is the responsibility of the user.

Effective immediately the Department will no longer offer either hard copy or CD versions of the VDOT DRAINAGE MANUAL.
This policy is in keeping with present mandatory cost cutting initiatives and also with the desire to eliminate paper publications wherever possible.
