The Virginia Local Technical Assistance Center

The Virginia Local Technical Assistance Program administers the commonwealth's branch of the Federal Highway Administration's Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP). Every state has an LTAP center to provide local highway agencies with improved access to the latest technology and training. Virginia?s LTAP fosters a safe, efficient and environmentally sound transportation system.

The center?s staff carries out this mission by providing training, technical assistance and the transfer of technology to transportation professionals in rural and small urban areas. It also maintains a lending library of transportation-related videos and training materials. The program is administered by the Center for Transportation Studies at the University of Virginia.

VDOT Research Library

The VDOT Research Library is located at the Virginia Transportation Research Council in Charlottesville. The library promotes research excellence and innovation by helping employees locate the right information at the right time in the right format and helps them use that information to create new knowledge and improved technical services.

It is the only resource of its kind in Virginia and the largest transportation library in the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials Region II. The library lends materials to VDOT employees, transportation professionals and other libraries.
